Sebastien Bourdais will pull double duty at this weekend\u2019s Acura Long Beach Grand Prix, as the Dale Coyne Racing IndyCar star will also compete in IMSA\u2019s WeatherTech Sportscar Championship race.<\/p>\n
Bourdais will substitute for his Ford Chip Ganassi Racing teammate Joey Hand, who\u2019s dealing with a bad flu, and will jump between his No. 18 DCR Honda and the No. 66 Ford GT he\u2019ll share with Dirk Muller in Saturday\u2019s 100-minute Bubba Burger Grand Prix IMSA round which complements Sunday\u2019s Acura IndyCar event on a crowded Long Beach schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough we\u2019re disappointed for Joey, we\u2019re also fortunate to have someone like Sebastien who can step right in this weekend,\u201d said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports. \u201cWe\u2019re grateful Dale Coyne Racing will allow him to do double duty with the IndyCar race this weekend. Seb already has so many miles in the Ford GT, and knows the team and crew so well, that it\u2019s the perfect solution.\u201d<\/p>\n
With IMSA added into his weekend, the Frenchman\u2019s Friday morning start will come sooner than expected. A comfortable 10 a.m. IndyCar practice session will now be preceded by IMSA\u2019s 7:40-9:40 a.m. practice, and, with IMSA qualifying ending nearly four hours after IndyCar is finished on Friday afternoon, Bourdais will be plenty busy. Saturday is slightly easier, with an IndyCar practice session in the morning from 9:00-9:45 a.m., IndyCar qualifying from 12:10-1:25 p.m., and the IMSA race from 2-4 p.m.<\/p>\n
